The Sacred City of Ayodhya

Ayodhya

AYODHYA is a city located on the banks of the Sarayu River in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the regulatory headquarters of the Ayodhya district as well as the Ayodhya division of Uttar Pradesh.

The term "AYODHYA," which signifies "not to be fought against," is derived from the king Ayudh, who is considered to have been the first forefather of Shree Ram. AYODHYA has been glorified with a combined culture. Positioned on the bank of the river Saryu, the old city of Ayodhya is the motherland of Shree Ram, the seventh avatar of lord Vishnu. Ayodhya is admired as one of the seven Mokshdayini Saptpuris or the seven noble thirth of Hindus. The legendary city invites spiritual seekers with its eye-pleasing ghats, amazing temples, and beautiful aartis. The Atharva Veda defines it as the indomitable city of gods and equivalent prosperity of heaven.

An eye-pleasing view from the bank of the Saryu river can be admired best from the Ram ki Pairi Ghat. Factually, a pair of stairs on the Naya Ghat, the divine charisma of Ayodhya washes over the devotees taking a dip in the holy water. The story traces that one day Lakshman desired to set out on pilgrimage, so Shri Ram showed him the lila on the edge of the Saryu. He said that pilgrims come here every day before sunrise to take a dip and that taking a bath in the river would be equivalent to bathing in all the pilgrimages. But his last departure was a tough decision as his loyal devotee, Hanuman, would not let aside. He had to use a trick because it was necessary for Vishnuji to finish his life as Ram, end the Treta Yuga, and return in another form. Shree Ram threw his ring into a hole in the earth and asked Hanuman Ji to bring it for him. But this was not a common hole as it led directly to Nag Lok, where the king of serpent Vasuki displayed him a range of rings that had the same appearance as Shree Ram's. This is when Hanuman Ji comprehended he would never be able to witness his admired companion again, for the reason that Vishnu Ji had done this several times in the past and was required to exit this avatar before rebirthing.
